This is an auction replete with standouts. Works by Magritte, Tamayo, Paschke, Wirsum and multiple mixed media collages and prints from the celebrated Tony Fitzpatrick will cross the block. A significant work by Bill Traylor leads the Outsider Art session, alongside major works by Finster, Yoakum, Dial, Sparrow, and Dawson. Folk art includes a carved grotto Jesus and Devil train set sculpture from Wisconsin, and three oversize leaves by Ivan Albright lead the fine art session. (Side B). 1980. 45 RPM record with one side printed artwork sleeve. Produced by Wake Forest University, Fine Arts Gallery. Winston-Salem. NC; Cassettes: (1)You are Eturnal (sic). (2) Jungle Sounds of Other Worlds / Carson Show. Home Songs. Howard Makes Samples, Songs Banjoe-Harp Get Tire. (3) Odds and End. Howard to Peter Paul. Largest 7 x 7".
Condition
Recordings all in workable condition. One tiny corner of sleeve for 45 cut on left lower corner. Light surface dirt for 45 and casettes. Good condition.
- Provenance
This lot comes from a selection of items from the Spirit of America, Inc. This venture was owned by Peter F. Paul who also managed Fabio the actor/model. Paul brought an exhibition of Finster's to Beverly Hills and this lot is related to his involvement with Finster and are source materials from Paul's files.
