- Lot Description
Firehouse Foreman Salt Print, [signed]. Rutland, VT, ca. second half of 19th century. Portrait salt print of H.Y. Litchfield, a firehouse foreman in Rutland, posed in full uniform with a fire parade horn or bugle, his fire helmet laid next to him (shield reads ?Foreman 2 Rutland?). Twice inscribed and signed by Litchfield below image and on verso. Mounted on original board. Overall, 8 ? x 6 ??. Image unevenly trimmed, dampstaining to lower margin of mount, toning to verso; very good.
