[FORE-EDGE PAINTING]. PHILLIPS, Henry. Floral Emblems. London: Saunders and Otley, 1825. 8vo. Illustrated with 20 plates. 352 pp. Handsomely bound in contemporary full black straight-grain morocco, boards decoratively ruled in blind, boards paneled in gilt, spine ruled, tooled, and lettered in gilt in compartments, four raised bands, all edges gilt, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves.
Condition
Some light scuffing to spine and joints, joints just starting, hinges starting, text toned, foxed, occasionally soiled. Near fine. FIRST EDITION OF THIS TITLE, WITH A HANDSOME, FULL-COLOR, FINELY DETAILED PAINTING OF HADDON HALL ON THE FORE-EDGE. This was identified by an early ink notation on verso of ffep.
