- Lot Description
Frank Marshall Ventriloquist Figure. Chicago: Frank Marshall. ca. 1930. A classic carved Marshall figure dressed in jeans and a checkered shirt, with a moving mouth, repositionable eyes, and a cigarette smoking feature. Owned and used by midwestern ventriloquist Howie Olson to entertain American troops on USO shows during WWII. Height 38". Marshall is widely regarded as one of the great American figure makers of the twentieth century.
Condition
Good working condition. Several elements renewed from regular professional use by Olson, who was himself a figure maker.
