French Figural Automaton Match Striker Clock. France, ca. 1890s. Cast bronze figure of a bearded man in hat, who at a certain hour would bring a lit match up to his hat with his extended arm, the metal strip attached to the match box acting as a striker. Basin in hat holds used matches. Pink, white, and black enamel dial with brass bezel. Height 9?. Overall surface oxidation.
