[xvi], 1-[289], [3, blank] pp. Bound in twentieth-century marbled boards, brown gilt morocco lettering label on spine, original wrappers bound-in (spine toned, some edgewear to binding, text toned, some wear, soiling to wrappers). Very good. FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE FRONT BLANK TO CARLO ALBANI. With the bookplate of the Bibloteca Caproni and the Collezione Magica Roxy. Giovanni traces the history of gambling in Venice from 1172-1807. This book describes games, gambling dens, gambling houses, gambling stakes, cheaters, gambling criminals and their sentences.
