- Lot Description
GEORGE III (1738-1820) and CAVENDISH-BENTINCK, William, the Duke of Portland (1738-1809). Signed Military Commission for Hugh Dalrymple. Court of St. James, the twenty second Day of August, 1974. Military commission on vellum. With a partial red wax seal and full blue paper tex seal at left margin. Approximately 12 x 15 ??. 3 vertical and 2 horizontal creases, soiled, worn, some text a bit faint, lower portion of right side of document neatly removed (no apparent loss of text or signatures). Very good. Signed by George III at the upper left hand corner, and Prime Minister, the Duke of Portland at the lower right hand corner. This commission promotes Dalrymple to the rank of Captain.
