- Lot Description
George Washington: Oval Portrait Brass Drawer Pulls. Scarce pair of 2 1/2" x 3 1/4" Federal Period Brass George Washington drawer pulls, c. early 1800's. Each have a bust likeness of George Washington in his military general's uniform, with "General Washington" surrounding his image.
We have seen curtain tie-backs with a similar design advertised in British hardware catalogs of the early 1790s. Given Washington's popularity, they no doubt were strong sellers in the American market.
Condition
Fine condition, with what appears to be the original patina.
