Welles, Gideon. Gideon Welles Signed Certificate of Military Service. Hartford: March 10, 1843. On a half-sheet of lined paper, signed ?Gideon Welles Comptroller,? certifying a one year term of service in 1781 of one David Goodfaith in the Fifth Connecticut Regiment of the Connecticut Line. 6 ? x 7 ??. Faint marginal annotations in pencil, marginal losses at top, central fold with a closed tear at right edge.
