DANTE (Harry Jansen, 1883 - 1955). Gimmicked Props from Dante's Fountainia Illusion. Circa 1930s. A group of specially-constructed props used for the final effect in Dante's illusion. The stage-filling illusion climaxed with streams of water magically emanating from virtually every object touched by the magician. Included are two small stacking wooden stools (used at the center of the set, and outfitted with hidden pipes), a large embroidered Asian boot (with rubber tube attached and metal heel), a small slipper (with metal heel), three imitation fans (constructed from wood, with concealed metal tubing), and an ungimmicked Chinese wig worn by one of Dante's assistants.
Well worn from professional use, but intact and attractive.
Collection of Jeffrey Atkins.
