Graphophone Set. Early 1900s. Including:
Graphophone Type Q. NY: American Graphophone Co., 1901. Along with 10 cylinders: 6 are a variation of Edison Records and 4 from Columbia Phonograph Company. Graphophone is in 2 parts (horn detaches).
The Graphophone, invented in 1885 by Alexander Graham Bell, Chichester Bell, and Charles Sumner Tainter, modified Thomas Edison’s phonograph by using wax-coated cardboard cylinders instead of fragile tinfoil, resulting in clearer sound and improved durability.
Measurements with horn: 12 1/4 x 17 8 1/2".
Condition
Needs adjustments so that the reproducer runs along the long feedscrew.
