- Lot Description
Hartz, Prof. Hartz?s Stodare Egg Handkerchief. Circa 1880. Red cloth handkerchief decorated with floral and geometric designs, owned and used by Professor Hartz for his version of the Stodare Egg Trick. With the original inventory label of the Magic Circle attached to the cloth, and another loose label in an unknown hand attesting to the provenance of the cloth, stating that it was given to the Magic Circle by Professor Herwin, widely acknowledged as the inventor of the Thumb Tip. Together with an imitation egg. Originally in the collection of The Magic Circle, London. Sold in the club?s 1999 Appeal auction.
