[HOUDINI] Kellar’s Final Performance Broadside. [New York, 1917]. Letterpress broadside advertising the final stage appearance of Harry Kellar, as part of an Antilles tribute show at the New York Hippodrome on November 11, 1917. 12 x 9”. Linen backed.
The cast of magicians at the show included Zancig, Rouclere, T. Nelson Downs, Powell, Okito, J. Warren Keane, Thurston, Adelaide Herrmann, Nate Leipzig, and others. Houdini’s name appears more prominently and in larger type than that of his mentor, Dean Harry Kellar. This performance was in many ways a tribute to Kellar by Houdini, and at the conclusion of the show Kellar was carried off of the stage on the shoulders of his peers, to cheers from the assembled crowd.
One pinhole repaired.
Kevin Connolly collection.
