Original calf rebacked, spine label gilt, spine gilt. Provenance: Frederick J. O. Montagu (bookplate); (?) Wilson (bookplates). FIRST EDITION. ?? JOHNSON, T. B. The Shooter?s Companion; or, Description of Pointers and Setters? London: for Sherwood, Gilbert, and Piper, 1834. 8vo. 16 woodcut plates including frontispiece. Early mottled Spanish calf with four gilt hunting tools on covers, morocco spine labels gilt, compartments tooled in gilt scrollwork and hunting devices, top edge gilt, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, stamp?signed by Bayntun. ?? Together, 2 works in 2 volumes, conditional generally very good.
