Stanley, Henry M. In Darkest Africa. New York: Charles Scriber?s Sons, 1890. Two volumes, first American edition, original gilt pictorial cloth with inset silhouette of Africa, spine titled in gilt. Steel-engraved portrait frontispieces. Illustrated with 150 wood-engravings and plates, plus 3 folding maps in rear endpaper pockets. 8vo. Boards stained along edges, corners rubbed, ends frayed, vol. II frontis dampstained.
