- Lot Description
KLEIN, David (1918 ? 2005). New York / TWA. Circa 1960. Offset lithograph and silkscreen. Klein's classic midcentury travel poster for New York, rendering Times Square in glittering abstract shapes. The poster was first issued in 1956 with a TWA Constellation at the top. A few years later, the poster was issued with the silhouette of a jet, as seen here. This is the larger version. 40 3/8 x 24 9/16". Linen backed. Expertly inpainted tears along the right edge. A bright and attractive example. Art of the Airways, p. 148 (var.). Metzl (var.), p. 166. MoMA 329.1957 (var.).
