[ARCHITECTURE]. BRISEUX, Charles Etienne. L'Art de Batir des Maisons de Campagne. Paris: Prault Pere, 1743. 4to. Complete in two volumes, contemporary full mottled calf, arms of Le Chancelier Henri Francois D'Auguesseau of France (1668 - 1751) tooled in gilt on both boards in the elaborate shape of an elliptical cartouche, gilt scallops at the corners, gold tooled spine in 6 compartments and raised bands with maroon morocco spine labels, dentelle board edges in gilt, all edge stained red, marbled endpapers. Bastard portrait frontis. of Le Chancelier D'Auguesseau, plus frontis.
Illustrated with 261 plates; 116 folding by De la Marquade, Babel, Moreau, and Mutel after Briseux; numerous head and tailpieces, and printer's ornaments.
Condition
Wear to edges of boards and spine, hinges eroding; vol. II front board split and solely attached by endpapers, vol. I boards bowed, light foxing and dampstaining throughout.
