FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, FIRST PRINTING with 1863 imprint on title page; p. 125, verse 3 ?whistled, saying? later changed to ?whistling, said?; p. 174, verse 4 up, ?his only pastime?, later ?his sole diversion?. Additional vignette title page inserted with tissue guard. Publisher?s TR (BAL cloth grain) purple cloth blind stamped with rosettes at corners and several rules to covers, spine titled in gilt, brown-coated endpapers, top edge gilt (covers sunned at extremities, corners gently rubbed).
