LUCAS, George (American, b. 1944). Star Wars. New York: Ballantine Books, 1995. 8vo. Original publisher?s boards; original dust jacket. Third printing.? SIGNED on title page by George Lucas. The genesis for Star Wars is almost as well-known as the film itself. Having been blocked in his attempt to make his own Flash Gordon films by producer Dino De Laurentis, creator George Lucas set out to make his own version of the classic space adventure, with very clearly drawn lines between the forces of good and evil. The novelization was based on one of Lucas?s final drafts of the shooting script and was ghostwritten by science fiction writer Alan Dean Foster.
