HOPKINS, Albert. Magic, Stage Illusions and Scientific Diversions. With Original Printing Blocks. New York: Munn & Co., 1901. Green cloth decorated in red and black. Frontispiece, profusion of engravings. Thick 8vo. Front hinge broken, cloth quite rubbed. Sold together with five wooden-backed printing blocks used for illustrations in the book that picture the de Kolta Chair, and hat loading devices, as well as a copper printing block used to produce magazine advertisements to advertise the book upon its release.
It has been said that William E. Robinson, who would go on to fame as Chung Ling Soo, supplied many of the secrets behind the magic tricks in the pages of this book to the publisher. In his formative years, Robinson worked as a behind-the-scenes (and occasional on-stage) assistant to both Herrmann and Kellar.
