Magus. Le Magicien Amateur. Paris: Henri Gautier, 1897. Publisher?s pictorial wrappers bound in one third leather over marbled boards, with banded spine bearing a fan of three playing cards at its head, and a gilt-stamped roan title label. Colored endsheets. Profusely illustrated. 8vo. Browning as expected; very good. A fine binding of an attractive copy of this French work that explains ? with lovely and large period illustrations ? both feats of sleight of hand, alongside optical tricks and stage illusions, in a manner similar to the classic book of Albert Hopkins, published in New York in the same year.
