[MAPS AND PRINTS]. [WASHINGTON, George (1732-1799), subject]. [SCHUESSELE, Christian (1824-1879), after].??G.?Washington? (A. K. A. ?Washington?at Valley Forge.?)?Philadelphia: Engraved by Edward S. Best, 1853 [though somewhat later]. Later 19th century restrike of this rare print. A vibrant, hand-colored image of General?Washington?seated at his headquarters in Valley Forge, with a map on his desk and a letter in his hand. Captioned, and with a facsimile signature of?Washington?at bottom right; Schuessele?s signature in plate is at bottom right. Sight approximately 24 ? x 19?. Matted and framed (no glass). Frame size approximately 33 x 27?. Print and mat lightly toned, occasional minor soiling to print, verso toned, bottom edge neatly trimmed, which is not visible under the mat. Fine. Measurements: 33 x 27 x 1?.
