This is an auction replete with standouts. Works by Magritte, Tamayo, Paschke, Wirsum and multiple mixed media collages and prints from the celebrated Tony Fitzpatrick will cross the block. A significant work by Bill Traylor leads the Outsider Art session, alongside major works by Finster, Yoakum, Dial, Sparrow, and Dawson. Folk art includes a carved grotto Jesus and Devil train set sculpture from Wisconsin, and three oversize leaves by Ivan Albright lead the fine art session. Mardi Gras Parade Bulletin for the Krewe of Proteus (28th Representation). Subject: Romances of Wales. From the Carnival Edition of the Picayune. 1909. Color lithograph on paper. T. Fitzwilliam and Co. Parade held February 22nd 1909, in New Orleans. Poster has been laid to board earlier.
Condition
Surface dirt overall. Fold marks, scuffs, staining overall. Image from verso shows through in blank areas. Right edge has more obvious level of staining.
