[MITROPOULOS, Dimitri (1896-1960)]. Signed photograph. Photograph depicts the legendary conductor leaning back in a chair with one hand at his chin. Inscribed ?To Jim Bolle / - D. Mitropoulos.? Framed, 11 x 8 ??. Dimitri Mitropoulos began his formal musical training at the Greek Conservatoire in Athens under the tutelage of Ferruccio Busoni, among others. He made his American debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1936 and would go on to take a young Leonard Bernstein on as a protege shortly after. From 1956 until his death four years later was the Principal Conductor of New York City?s Metropolitan Opera. This photograph has been inscribed to Jim Bolle of the Chicago Community Music Foundation.
