Mummified Head of the Bandit ?Tic? in Case. 20th century. Realistic mummified head display, made of clay, with apparently real human teeth, mounted on a brass stand. Brass plate on front reads ?TIC?. Case marked as the head of ?the Bandit Tic?, with a label on verso reading; ?responsible for two years (1899-1901) of terror and depradation in the colony before his slaying by officer P. Hornburg in a botched raid on the Friendly Hotel. His severed head was preserved in saltpeter and was long displayed in the officer?s club in New Delhi before coming into our possession.? Mounted in wooden and glass case. 14 ? x 9 ? x 7?.
