This is an auction replete with standouts. Works by Magritte, Tamayo, Paschke, Wirsum and multiple mixed media collages and prints from the celebrated Tony Fitzpatrick will cross the block. A significant work by Bill Traylor leads the Outsider Art session, alongside major works by Finster, Yoakum, Dial, Sparrow, and Dawson. Folk art includes a carved grotto Jesus and Devil train set sculpture from Wisconsin, and three oversize leaves by Ivan Albright lead the fine art session. - Lot Description
MURAKAMI, Gyojin. (Japanese, 1911-1998). Dusk on the Beach. 1958. Color woodblock on paper. Signed, titled, numbered, and dated lower margin. Artist's chop in plate lower left. Sight 18 3/4 x 30 1/2". Frame 20 1/2 x 32 3/4". Edition 13/20. This appears to be an early version of this woodcut. The 1972 version is an edition of 200.
Condition
Paper toned. Light creases and wrinkles from being rolled at some point. Not examined out of frame. Overall good condition.
