- Lot Description
Churchill, Winston Spencer. My African Journey. New York/London: Hodder & Stoughton, n.d. [1908]. First American edition, only printing, second issue. The U.S. edition was produced from British first edition sheets and bound in a plain coarse red cloth with spine titled in gilt. Frontispiece including 61 illustrations from photographs + 3 maps. 8vo. Spine sunned, boards gently darkened, occasional foxing to text, contemporary ownership inscription to front fly leaf. Rare. Only 1,400 copies of the U.S. edition were sold as opposed to the 8,000 copies of the frequently seen British edition making this example much scarcer.
