[NEWSPAPERS]. Dépèche-Ballon. [Paris:] Vendredi [Friday], 16 Décembre 1870. One issue on thin paper of this exceedingly scarce newspaper delivered by balloon in order to get past the Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian war. 2pp. on one sheet. Approximately 7 3/4 x 5".
Condition
Paper a bit toned, foxed, margins somewhat unevenly trimmed, a few stained creases. Fine. A HANDSOME EXAMPLE OF THIS SCARCE BI-WEEKLY NEWSPAPER, DESIGNED TO BE DELIVERED BY BALLOON DURING THE FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR AND THE SIEGE OF PARIS. An incredible artifact and a rare survivor.
