[NEWSPAPERS]. [OUTLAWS]. [TRACY, Harry (1975-1902), subject]. The Tacoma Daily Ledger. August 7, 1902. 10 pp. Approximately 22 1/2 x 17".
Toned, left margin chipped, somewhat wrinkled, one horizontal crease. Good. HEADLINE ARTICLE ABOUT THE DEATH OF OUTLAW, HARRY TRACY (1875-1902). "Outlaw Ends Chase with Bullet from Own Hand / Wounded Unto Death by Posse, Tracy Dragged Himself Into Wheat Field and Closed His Tragic Career With His Trusty Gun..." Tracy was a killer, robber and thief, who supposedly ran with Butch Cassidy and the Hole in the Wall Gang (unsubstantiated). Tracy had a reputation as a bloodthirsty killer, being responsible for the deaths of several law enforcement officers, and a few fellow outlaws. In 1902, Tracy had been surrounded and wounded in Creston, WA, where he crawled into a field; he took his own life to avoid capture.
