[NEWSPAPERS]. [REVOLUTIONARY WAR]. The Pennsylvania Chronicle, &c. Extraordinary. Philadelphia: Oct. 12, 1768. Vol. II. 10.75 X 9.5". 4pp. WITH SEVERAL ACCOUNTS OF THE FIRST BRITISH TROOPS ARRIVING IN BOSTON, P. 3. The Pennsylvania Chronicle &c. was one of the first Colonial newspapers to publish extras, called "Extraordinarys," this issue devoted to the arrival of British troops in Boston: "We have now the appearance before this town of 13 or 14 ships of war, and two regiments in the common, with a train of artillery, and all this mighty and expensive parade is...in consequence of the disorders on the 18th of March last, which were nothing more than a few disorderly boys hallooing..." The demand that households quarter the soldiers, "so disagreeable and dangerous," would eventually lead to The Boston Massacre.
Condition
Toning and light soiling. Discoloration and tears along center fold. Chipped extremities. Right corners bent. Holes from disbinding with joint separating at bottom. One horizontal crease. Very good.
