- Lot Description
[PAINTED MINIATURES]. [NELSON, Lord Horatio (1758-1805), subject]. Rare Painted Portrait of Nelson on a Powder Box Lid. [England, ca. 1800s]. Circular portrait of Nelson in an uncommon red uniform, with an equally uncommon depiction of his damaged eye. Sight approximately 2? in diameter. Brass frame under glass set into a circular lid. Lid size approximately 3 ??. Brass a bit tarnished, lid soiled and somewhat warped, later tape reinforcements on verso. Very good.
