[Wausau, Wisconsin: Helen Bruneau Van Vechten at The Sign of the Green Pine Tree for The Philosopher Press, 1901]. 8vo (197 x 121 mm). Printed in red and black, woodcut title?page and facing page with full woodcut page?border, 5?line and 3?line initial capitals. Full contemporary gilt?lettered sheepskin ruled several times in gilt with leafy gilt tooled cornerpieces, 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, top edge gilt, others uncut, gilt fillet turn?ins, gilt stamp?signed by ?G.S?. (Spine a bit darkened with few spots of rubbing along bands and joints). LIMITED EDITION, number 44 of 370 copies. In a UNIQUE ARTS AND CRAFTS BINDING of a scarce example from a Midwest small press with evident aesthetic influences of William Morris and the Kelmscott Press. Ransom, Private Presses 8, p. 383.
