Bound in contemporary half calf over marbled boards spine ruled in compartments, five raised bands (binding heavily worn, joints cracking, some gutters starting, plates a bit toned, some occasional soiling to text and plates). Good. FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST COMPREHENSIVE WORK OF THE THEORY THAT CERTAIN AREAS OF THE BRAIN CONTROL CERTAIN BEHAVIORS. This book provides a detailed atlas mapping and correlating areas of the brain to specific human traits. Originally termed Crainology by Dr. Gall, Dr. Spurzheim further developed the pseudoscience to encompass body and facial features, and created the term Phrenology.
