[POP-UPS]. [JOHNSON, Paul, illustrator and designer]. Group of 7 Small Handmade and Hand-Painted Artistic Pop-Up Books. [England, ca. 1980s]. Beautifully hand-painted bindings in various shapes, each with a brief hand-written legend and signature by Johnson. All in custom-built black cardstock slipcases, all with hand-colored strings. Fine. A BEAUTIFUL GROUP OF UNIQUE, HAND-MADE ART POP-UPS. Johnson is an educator and artist, who has won awards for his specially-designed books (he doesn?t use glue to assemble his books ? he uses paper hinges and other methods). His books will have dozens or hundreds of individual pieces. Rare and unusual. Measurements: 5 x 5 x 1?.
