- Lot Description
[POSTER MAQUETTE]. Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Combined Circus / Colossal New Spectacle India Most Sublime Pageant in History. [Erie: Erie Lithographing and Printing Co., ca. 1910s-1930s]. Gouache on two paper panels, both on cardboard, depicting three soldiers on horseback with musical instruments, before a herd of beautifully appointed elephants. 20 ? x 20 ?? (image), 26 x 26 ?? (board). With several pencil notes on the board, indicating that this maquette was the basis of a 16-sheet or 12-sheet poster, or one or half sheet posters (all with their various stock numbers). Image scuffed mainly at margins, board is worn, soiled, and creased. Still, colors are vibrant.
