Morocco spine label with gilt titles. Institutional stamps to title pages of each volume (foxing). Half-title in volume two. FIRST EDITION. Russell?s best known novel, called ?the most popular mid-Victorian melodrama of adventure and heroism at sea.? Provenance: Sidney Meade (bookplate). Sadleir 3111.
