[SCIENTIFIC PUZZLES & AMUSEMENTS]?Kolumbus-Eier.?Berlin et al: Union Deutsche Verlagsgesellschaft, ca. 1890. Original elaborate decorative cloth in five colors, with the RARE pictorial dust-jacket. Illustrated with attractive engravings. 8vo. Near fine, with a good jacket (tattered and reinforced around perimeter).A German work similar to books by Tissander and Tom Tit, featuring many scientific amusements, puzzles, toys, and games that can be made at home, including dancing eggs, thaumatropes, improvised mirrors, matchstick puzzles, and dozens more. The title, which translates to ?The Egg of Columbus" is a reference to the apocryphal story of Columbus's creative solution to the challenged of how he might balance an egg on its tip.
