FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING. 16 illustrations from photographs. Publisher?s beige cloth lettered and ruled in black. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on ffep (occasional pale spotting). [Together with:] a 3pp. ALS from the author to his ?mamma?, dated December 4th, 1862, neatly housed in a pocket affixed to upper cover pastedown.
