Semi-Precious Stone Mosaic Portrait of a Gentleman. European, nineteenth century. A well executed portrait of a formally dressed gentleman smoking a pipe, while holding a walking stick. The discarded flower and letter at his feet hint at disappointment in romance. Portrait was executed in marble and stone of various color and hues, as well as rhodochrosite, lapis lazuli, mother of pearl, malachite, gold, and others. In custom period frame, lined in velvet. Frame 11 ? x 7 ??. Very good.
