- Lot Description
Shower of Gold. Azusa; Owen Magic Supreme, ca. 2010. It took Owen Magic Supreme to perfect and produce this Robert-Houdin masterpiece. An elegant leaded crystal faceted dish with lid may be passed about the audience and is then placed on a table in the center of the stage--away from any tables, curtains or other props. Covered with a foulard, the performer makes a motion towards the dish and coins are heard to cascade into the covered receptacle. The foulard is flung aside, and coins are now filling the dish, seemingly appearing out of thin air. Table is 17" in diameter with a height of 37".
One of only three sets in existence. The precision and sophistication of this incomparable showpiece, combined with technology not frequently encountered in magic apparatus of any time, makes the apparatus unlike all other models, contemporary or Victorian. Includes everything required, and is accompanied by a handsome custom-made reverse-glass gold-leaf framed sign advertising the effect, incorporating the Owen genii motif used in the company's hallmark for decades.
