- Lot Description
[SOVIET SPACE PROGRAM]. Group of 3 Soviet Souvenir Candy Tins with Lids. [Soviet Union, ca. 1950s-60s]. Pictorial circular tins and lids. Sizes range from approximately 4 ?" to 3 ?" in diameter. Large tin with some wear. Generally fine. The 2 smaller tins feature dogs who were sent into space by the Soviet Space Program (one tin features ?Laika," the first living creature sent into space; the other features two other dogs sent into space, ?Belka" and ?Strelka.") The large tin features the Vostok 1 mission, in which Cosmonaut Yuri Gagaran (1934-1968) became the first human sent into space.
