- Lot Description
Space Patrol Scout Ship Coin-Operated Kiddie Ride. Modern full-size recreation of the classic design which inspired children of the 1950s to shoot for the stars. Original design created for the 1950s television show Space Patrol. 51 x 81 x 34?. Working. Requires third party transportation. The Space Patrol Scout Ship Kiddie Ride was originally commissioned by the show?s main sponsor, the Ralston-Purina Co., and produced by the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago. The checkerboard pattern on the ship?s wings was modeled after the company?s logo. Four prototypes of this ride were created, but with the show?s cancellation in February 1955, plans for mass production were scrapped. This recreation matches the original down to the smallest detail, with the only additional feature being an audio card which plays the original show?s theme song when activated.
