Friede Publishers, [1936]. 8vo. 349, [1, blank] pp. Publisher's black cloth backstrip over beige buckram boards, spine lettered in gilt, publisher's black slipcase with printed paper label on spine (minor wear, repairs and color correction to slipcase). A bright, fine copy in a very good slipcase.FIRST EDITION, #96/99 COPIES SIGNED BY STEINBECK ON AN INSERTED LEAF. This novel about a labor strike among fruit pickers in Central California, is lesser known than Steinbeck's other major novels, but is one of his most powerful.
