Table Loading Nest of Boxes. New York: Martinka & Co. [?], ca. 1890. A borrowed watch, stuffed in the end of a blunderbuss, is fired at a decorated wooden box. The timepiece is rediscovered in the smallest of seven handsome wooden nested boxes each one locked. Table loading model. Largest box with elaborate scrollwork edges and fancy brass claw feet and lion head keyway. Outer dimensions 9 x 10 1/2 x 9". Smallest box with ebonized finish and red plush-lined interior. Height of table 38”. Includes two keys (one for outer box, one for all inner boxes), original packing case for nested boxes, and plug for elevator trap. About as handsome set of props for this effect as we have encountered, and RARE in this size and form.
Smallest box with crack in lid, minor scattered wear to other boxes, but very good to near fine condition overall.
