Chipping and small losses to extremities and corners, pages dog-eared, spine worn, but sturdy; very good overall. A wide-ranging treatise on all manner of scams and cons, including bogus jewelry, fortune telling, marriage scams, pickpockets, safe cracking, thimble-rigging, highway robbery, quacks and medical humbug, fortune-telling, lotteries, and with a chapter devoted to ?Gamblers and Their Victims.? Other curious cons outlined include ?how to become invisible,? ?moustache forcers,? and a ?Spanish Consul in Want of Pants.?
