Wilde, Oscar. The Sphinx. London: John Lane, 1920. First edition thus, first and only printing. Limited to 1,000 copies. Original cream cloth pictorially stamped in gilt, spine lettered in gilt, t.e.g. Illustrated by Alastair (Baron Hans-Hening von Voigt) with 10 pochoir plates with printed tissue guards + 2 additional pochoir plates serving as endpapers; 13 large decorative pochoir initials. 4to. Covers and spine darkened at edges, spine ends rubbed, contemporary ownership signature to front pastedown; interior clean and bright. The plates were destroyed in Belgium at the time of the German invasion.
