The War of the Worlds appears monthly starting April, 1897 and concluding December, 1897 (this book collects issues beginning in November 1896 through December 1897.) This science fiction novel was one of the first first novels in which extraterrestrials are in armed conflict with humans, and is still the standard by which such stories are measured. Its popularity has hardly diminished over the years, and it has been in print continuously since 1897.
