Translated from the High-Dutch Original, printed at Frankford upon the Maine, 1650. Small folio. Illustrated with a map of Greenland (?Groenland") and 4 plates of whales and whaling. [541, sic]-569, [1, blank] pp. Approximately 12 ? x 7 ?". Complete work, extracted from Churchill's Voyages? Bound in modern half brown cloth over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt (spine bumped, some rubbing to binding, occasional thumbsoiling, faint wrinkling in text). A clean, fine copy. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION OF THIS EARLY PRINTED WORK ON WHALING.
