19th C. Persian, Qajar Silver Embroidery "Sermeh Doozi" On 'Termeh' Fabric. “SERMEH DOOZI” A TRADITIONAL IRANIAN STYLE OF EMBROIDERY
Sermeh doozi is estimated to date back to the Achaemenid era (c. 550 – 330 BC). In this style of embroidery, gold and silver threads are utilized to make decorating patterns, mostly paisley patterns, on the surface of fabric, mainly termeh, which is a type of expensive Iranian handwoven cloth. 42" x 28 1/2" - Shipping Info
