Note: This bowl is listed in the Tiffany archives hollowware manufacturing legers as 3640 Bowl – Elephant Head – Handles. Tiffany’s 1999 report notes the order number 3448 had a manufacturing date of September 11, 1874, a cost of $128 and used 64.8 oz. of silver. The ledgers list several versions of the Elephant head bowl. A centerpiece bowl with three feet formed as elephant heads, pattern 3641, was designed to go with this bowl.
Very good condition with light erasure to one cartouche (small traces of engraving still visible). Traces of parcel gilding to the borders.
